Procedure

Registration and procedure

A simple information letter must be received by the school administration at least 14 days before the scheduled start of school.

There is no need to explain why the child does not want to be sent to public school.

Independent tuition is authorised by a consent form which the parent or guardian must sign, but which can be negotiated with the local school administration.

For foreign language lessons, proof of education from the parent or guardian (at least upper secondary or grammar school level or completion of higher vocational training) may be waived if the tuition is provided by means of suitable distance learning, but proof must be provided that a contract has been concluded.

In case of doubt as to whether the educational objectives are being met, the licensing authority may issue orders to clarify and remedy deficiencies.
A person appointed by the BKS (Department of Education, Culture & Sport) regularly reviews the planning and implementation of the lessons. This person also assesses the child's or young person's situation. If the teaching proves to be inadequate, the BKS can order the school administration to assign the child or young person to the public school. Likewise, the BKS and the school administration may stipulate the individual modalities of the private schooling in a contract.
Parents or private teachers do not have access to the cantonal achievement tests.

At the basic level (KG, 1st and 2nd grade), at least a degree at the Sekundarstufe II must be possess.
At the upper school level, at least one A matura degree from a regular school, a vocational matura or a specialist matura, or a completed course of higher vocational education and training. must be posses.
Sufficient skills for foreign language teaching in grades 3-6.

At the basic level (KG, 1st and 2nd grade) with 2 children at least 2 hours per day, five times a week, with 3-5 children at least 3 hours per day, five times a week, structured lessons.

Upper school with two children/young people at least 4 hours a day, with 3-5 children/young people at least 5 hours a day, five times a week, structured lessons.

School Psychology Service
Vocational, academic and career guidance
Dental check-ups
your child is obliged to take the compulsory preventive medical examinations
No education grants can be requested.

Teaching material

Wenn gewünscht, kann bei der Schule des Aufenthaltsortes oder des Wohnortes nachfragen, ob sie die Lehrmittel zur Verfügung stellen. Dies geschieht jedoch auf freiwilliger Basis der gewünschten Schule.
